Thanks hiraeth.
I was thinking, Llandudno was ringing bells. My Nana said that Dad's family came from there. (My Nana was a Walton not a Jones, she married into the Jones family)
I was always fascinated by the way she pronounced it.  Sounded sort of like "Lshlandudnow"  ???
She didn't converse in Welsh but she had a few songs and poems that I now realise were Welsh.

Your welcome Leonie

If you click on the map of the genuki site for Llandrillo and move the multimap around you will see all the names of these places Llandrillo, Llangwstennin, Llandudno, Eglwysbach etc.  It's a very pretty area.  There are some good pictures on the geograph uk website as well.

I lived in Llandudno (english style pronun Lan-did-no!) in the late sixties/early seventies - even attended Llandrillo Technical College for a few months where I learned to type LOL.

It is too bad that all of it isn't in Denbighshire so that you could take advantage of the Clwyd FHS record transcriptions.   Caernarvonshire is a bit of black hole for parish records - genealogically speaking. :)    I understand the LDS is finally supposed to be transcribing them now.  Eventually they may be more accessible for those of us overseas.   Another alternative is to contact the Record Office at http://www.gwynedd.gov.uk/gwy_doc.asp?cat=3693&doc=9448.  It is not cheap but they are very helpful.

The only Hannah baptised in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos in 1813 (+/- 3 years) is:

Hannah DAVIES April 25 1813 d/o William  (labourour of Bryn budr) and Elizabeth

sorry, no Hannah ROBERTS

Thanks Lee.
I don't supose there's an Ann ROBERTS is there?
She could also have been married before as there is a daughter Mary born before her marriage to Robert JONES.

Hi Leonie

A link to a couple of websites about the area

http://www.llanddulashiddenhistory.co.uk/  (good map - check out the top left hand corner of the home page!)

http://www.byegones.co.uk/  (This site has a transcription of the 1841 census for Llandrillo yn Rhos parish which might come in useful)

Closest is Anne Roberts bapt June 24 1812 d/o David and Catherine of Morfa Bach

other entries in Llandrillo-yn-Rhos records (pre 1837) are:

baptism of David JONES Dec 21st 1836 s/o Robert and Hannah of Mynedd Mochdre (Robert is a Labourer)
burial of Robert JONES of Mynedd Mochdre Mar 7th 1837 age 36

Hannah was quite an unusual name in those days.

Thanks Lee.
I'll have to put this whole thread away for a few days.
I'm in the grip of a chest cold and the meds I'm on are making me thick headed, I can't concentrate.
I've bookmarked this and saved it to my Favourites List, I don't want to lose any of sites you all have given me.
