Is there anywhere in Notts where I could go to access old parish records etc? Or are such things held at different places across the county?

The Notts libraries have PR's on fiche for their area. Which PR's are you looking for? ( I think the central library in Nottingham has the whole county)
Cross Steeple Claydon Bucks, Jennings Steeple Claydon Bucks, Steel Byfield Northants, Rogers Northants, Wheeler Oxon, Roberts Oxon, Bonham Oxon/ Middleton Cheney Northants, Maycock Northants, Abbott Northants , Newman Northants, Buckingham Bucks, Hart Warks, Newth Gloucs.

The archives are large and you don't need to book like some counties. lots of viewers and all the counties records including maps etc.

Hi Annie,
Is it
just
Nottinghamshire Parish registers you want to look at - or others as well?
Paulene
P.S. If you are quite a distance from Nottingham sometimes people have their own records, and
may
be able to help on rootschat.

HI Paulene,
Mostly north Nottinghamshire stuff, but I'm not that far away so should be able to get down there for a few hours now that I know where the office is!

Hi
Nottinghamshire archives are extensive and the staff are very helpful. BMDs, wills, electoral rolls, apprenticeships, settlement, etc etc. For original records you have to register, even if it is just for the day. I think you need something like a passport or driving licence and a utility bill but ring up and check first. They fetch documents every hour I think. If you are going for the day take some lunch but there is a drinks machine (you will be close to shops etc if you want to buy lunch). They provide free lockers etc. They are much more relaxed than other archives I have been to except in the original document area. A pleasant experience.

The Notts Fam Hist Soc also have CDs for BMDs.

Of course we have copies as well. Is it information you want or copies of certificates?
