It is O/c Recs - office in charge of records. They normally did not dispose of unclaimed medals for ten years.

Para 1743 Kings Regulations 1912

Disposal of unclaimed medals

Medals which, at the end of 10 years, still remain unclaimed, will be sent to the India Office (if granted for Indian service), or to the deputy director of ordnance stores, Royal Dockyard (Medal Branch), Woolwich (if granted for other service) to be broken up.

Hi Ken

Thanks for the clarification ( I had thought it was Officer Commanding Rees ) oh dear me.

So..... if unclaimed medals weren't disposed of for ten years, then the victory medal would have been awarded before 1912 ?

Would I therefore assume that disposal took place before the ten year rule or is there another explanation ?

Thanks

Paul

The officer is requesting authority to dispose of them in 1922. It does not say authority was granted.

When medals are returned the MIC should quote the KR from 1912.
