Gainsborough/blyton B & M
« on: Friday 13 March 09 14:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks

I am looking for possible sibblings for William Gurnhill born between 1806/11 around Blyton Gainsborough area's.
William married Sarah Keyworth 1826 Knaith I have the marriage and their children aslo from the census's down the years
What I am after is possible baptisms for his siblings
Even marraiges for his parents and their siblings
I know its a big ask
But I'm not sure if his father would be named on his marriage cert when he married Sarah Keyworth

Baps ---
William Gurnhill 25 Oct 1809 s/o John & Anne  Upton cum Kexby.
William Gurnill 11 Sep 1803 s/o Robert & Ann  Blyton
William Gurnill 30 April s/o Thomas & Ann  Blyton

If you can identify the right one the we can sort out other baps for same parents.

There were no marriage certs till registration began in 1837
Dring, Keightley, Lincs,  Davies, Stuckey, S Wales

Beady thanks
But there is no way I could split them
I thought about checking the names of Williams kids
But none are named after any of the father you mention.
Maybe if I give you a list of Williams children
Maybe he may have named some after his siblings

Charlotte
Hariet
William
Eliza
Sarah
James
Jane
Charles
Elizabeth
Catherine

Thanks again

Hi
Most of the names you gave are not listed in the baps. Those that are , are mainly pre the dates you want. Sorry.
I missed the year on the last bap I gave. It was 30 April 1805
Could have been out of county -- Gainsboro very near border of foreign country!!!

Hi Beady

Thanks for the look ups
I'm sorry But I dont understand what you mean
The names I supplied
Are some children of my William Gurnhill.
I thought there could be a possibility he named some of his children after his siblings
Is it possible for you to look up
any baptisms for Thomas Gurnhill's children please
When you say foregin country
Did you mean county meaning Notts rather than Lincs

Eric

Yes, I meant that only a couple of the names of his siblings matched names in the records, but the dates don't match, so we can't trace them that way.
Yes -- Foreign country -- Notts or Yorks !!!!!!

Hi,

I don't know if this will narrow down the choice of William Gurnhill's but there is a burial of a William Gurnhill at Glentworth in 1879 aged 79 (i.e. born c1803).

On the 1871 Census there is a William Gurnhill, born Blyton, at Glentworth with a wife called Susan.

Possibly this is the William Gurnill baptised 11 Sep 1803 s/o Robert & Ann  Blyton that Beady found so you could maybe eliminate him.

Hi again,

Another very big longshot:

I noticed you gave his first child as Charlotte & I have found a Charlotte Gurnhill buried 8 September 1819 aged 16 at Blyton.  Could he have called his first daughter after a sister who died at a young age?

Maybe someone would be kind enough to see if they can find her baptism to shed a bit more light to the possiblily of either John or Thomas being her father.
