Yes, I meant that only a couple of the names of his siblings matched names in the records, but the dates don't match, so we can't trace them that way.
Yes -- Foreign country -- Notts or Yorks !!!!!!

Hi

I have committed a cardinal sin, I took William's wife as Susan from the 1871 transcript but now checked the original & it is Sarah!!

Sorry about that, but this may change the situation & actually mean that William born 1803 is your man!!

Hi Eric,

All I can say is that he was 76 (not 79 as I had typed - had a bad day) when he was buried on 12 Oct 1879, so it puts his year of birth as 1803.

I think it must be his wife Sarah who was also buried at Wentworth on the 11 Jan 1890 aged 83.

Did one of the other William's marry a Sarah though?

Mind you, he may have not been new born when he was baptised, his age may not be correct on death etc. so as you can see, a lot of it is based on assumptions.

Yes Gilly
This has been my problem for a while now
two Williams born in the same area marry a sarah
also I have never taken for granted his excact age
I have taken this from census returns
as we know they some time tended to be rounded off
so he could be born from anything like
1803 to 1811 depending on which William I can find a baptism for
I thought maybe by looking at the childrens names it may give some clue to sibling or parents

Also, I got a photocopy of the fiche with the marriage of William Gurnhill and Sarah Keyworth - if you pm me with your e.mail address of 'snail mail' address, then I will scan/send it to you.

Good luck sorting that lot out!   ;D
