HiThere,
Well off we trotted this morning in the drizzly rain down to Dirleton. My freind who has lived in East LOthian for 40 years said 'naw, theres no a church there....they are all buried at another village further up the road Aberlady'. I said....well we will go a check...it must have a church if it has a castle....so off we went, turned off the road and drove around. Well we found a very pretty church which has a nursery attached and off we went, my freind saying ...well I never knew that.....
We trekked aropund and lfound two headstones, both of women,
Martha Bathgate McNicol, born 14/01/1827, died 27/07/1898, husband William Palmer, teacher at Dirleton for 27 years.
Elizabeth Bathgate, beloved wife of George Wightman, who died 20th May 1923 aged 60 and also the above George Wightman who died 16/05/1939 aged 79 interred in North Berwick.
I will attemp to upload the picture later....
