Griffith Davies Marriage c 1860 -Llandysilio
« on: Monday 16 March 09 05:41 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking to find the marriage of Griffith Davies and an Elizabeth ?  Griffith was a son of Enoch Davies & Sarah Owen.

He was born in Llangrannog and she was born Llandysilio (from info on Census').   Buried in Llangrannog.

Their children were also born in Llandysilio but died/buried in Llangrannog.

1.  David Davies   c 1861 -  stonemason  (Census up to 1901)
2.  Thomas Davies   c 1863 - stonemason (Census up to 1901)
3.  Benjamin Davies  c 1866 died in 1931.
4.  William Davies  c 1867 -  Joiner (Census of 1891)
5.  Sarah Davies  c 1869 - Housemaid/Domestic (Census up to 1901)
6.  Eleanor (Nell)  c 1871 -  Quiltmaker. (Census up to 1901)

Assuming they married in Llandysilio where would the registration district be?

Would there be a local newspaper?  Would they have had death notices in the paper?

Regards

Hi  Webby

If you mean Llandisiliogogo, it  is in the Aberayron District and
Llangranog is in the Newcastle Emlyn District.

You can find out the districts on www.freebmd.org.uk and click on the district next to the name and on  'here' on the window that opens.

There is this marriage, which may be them

Hi Wendy
Probably is Llandisiliogogo....the info came fro the Census, although on one (1891) has Llandysiliogog.   There are two 'may be' marriages on the freebmd but both are listed under Cardigan.  One in 1856 and the other 1859 - plus the marriage that you mentioned.

I had ordered a film from the LDS of Llandisiliogogo, but the marriages are only to 1837 :(  and there are not that many baptisms, so I might have another look on the LDS site.  I've got a feeling that there were two listings one was Pembroke and the other Cardigan.
