Hello Revmother,

The marriage of James McLachlan, and Sarah, was 04/Sep/1853. Old Monkland, Lanark.

The names however were James McLachlan, and Sarah Bartley.

Their first child Margaret McLachlan, was born 05/Jan/1857. Old Monkland, the parents names James, and Sarah Bartley,

The second child was Bridget McLaghlin, born 18/May/1859. Dalrymple, Ayr. parents James, and Sarah Bartly.

The couple are living in Kilbirnie, Ayr. 1861, with daughter Bridget, aged 1 years. the first born Margaret, seems to have died.

The next bunch of kids the mothers name has changed to Barclay.

James, born 11/July/1861. Kilbirnie,
Margaret born 26/Jun/1866. Dalry,
John, born 12/Nov/1868. Dalry,
Sarah, born 07/Nov/1870. Dalry,
Thomas, born 07/Nov/1872. Dalry.

The family were in Dalry, 1871.

Both parents were born in Ireland.

The Bartley, Barclay. you can see where the register has written down on the earlier certificates what he has most likely heard and as it sounded to him, i doubt either of the couple could read or write.

Regards,
Jonn.
