Hi new zealand,

BANKS
Richard = CARRIGHAN Charlotte Jane Vic 1856/4033

also noticed

MARSHALL Martin = Charlotte Jane CARRIGHAN Vic 1854/3098

They had 4 children listed in Vic so not the same Charlotte. For interest I note the name may be spelled as CORRIGHAN and CORIGAN

Was Wilson her maiden name? There is one birth to a Richard BANKS and Jane Charlotte WILSON

Cheers Kris  :)

Hi Kris,
On Richard Banks death cert there is a lot of unknowns. There was no children listed on the cert. I will have to find the death of Jane now. Thankyou for your help. How would i go about getting a marriage cert.
Thanks

Richard and Jane Charlotte Banks also had a daughter Jane in Newtown Geelong in 1859  rego 2911.

I would think that as her name on the birth registrations is Wilson that this is her maiden name and she married as a widow under the Carrighan name.

It is interesting that a Terentius Julius Carringhan aged 6 died in 1854 parents Terentius and  Charlotte Jane Powell. He was born in England. reg 2828

I think this their arrival into Australia note the TWO Charlotte Janes!!! I looks like a widow and her children.

CARRIGHAN   ARTHUR G   17   JUL   1853   HELEN LINDSAY   B   043   002
CARRIGHAN   CHARLOTTE J   20   JUL   1853   HELEN LINDSAY   B   043   002
CARRIGHAN   CHARLOTTE J   42   JUL   1853   HELEN LINDSAY   B   043   002
CARRIGHAN   JULIA   3   JUL   1853   HELEN LINDSAY   B   043   002
CARRIGHAN   T JULIUS   6   JUL   1853   HELEN LINDSAY   B   043   002

Due to the wide range of childrens ages it is not imposssible for the older Charlotte to have been born Charlotte Wilson, married a Powell, then a Carrighan then Banks.

The older children Charlotte Jane and Arthur G. would have been born prior to civil registration.

Julia should have been born c 1850 and T. Julius c 1847 can't see anything on Free BDM except got a Julia Augusta CARRIGHAM for the June Qtr 1850. in Pancras St district.  volume 1 page 320.

I think that you may just have to purchase some certificates to sort out what is happening. The two marriages may well be:  the younger Charlotte Jane  to Martin Marshall and the older Charlotte Jane to Richard Banks.

Hi All,
Adding some further Freebmd information wich may be relevant.

Birth
Carrighan, Julia. St Pancras, 1844 June 1/4.   1.  310

[Makes her possibly  8 on arival and 3 & 8 are easy to mistake in transcription.

In the 1851 census there is this family: HO10 1497 (difficult to read - may not be correct)
at 16 Hawley Cres, St Pancras (London)  They are indexed as 'Carigham' but the image shows 'Carighan' although I can see how it was mistranscribed.

Carighan  Charlotte J age 40 widow born Madras, India
Carighan  Charlotte J        18 dau  born Regents Park
Carighan  Terrentius          4   son  born Haverstock Hill, Middlesex
Carighan Julius                   1  son   born Haverstock Hill, Middlesex - is this "Julia" on passenger list?
Gray Elizabeth                   16  servant

There is also the following at 73 Bayhern? St South, Camden Town, District St Pancras
John Guystock? Carighan  25, Managing? Chancery Clerk, b Pancras
Lydia wife, 22, b Pancras
and a monthly nurse.

In 1841 there are lots of them in this family, indexed as Carighan, living in St Pancras, all born in county (adult ages are rounded in this census so may not be exact) HO 107/683/15
Terrentius 40 solicitor
Jane   30
John 14
Sidney 14
Terence 11
James  9
Jane  7
George 6
Arthur 4
plus two servants

Looks like mum and daughter both took to using 'Charlotte' as well as 'Jane' by 1851
