*COMPLETED* Birth Certificate Information - late & formerly

COMPLETED  I have a birth certificate for my grandmother Elsie Annie WOODLEY - she was born in 1882.

On the certificate under column 5 - "Name, surname and maiden name of mother" it has these details:-

"Annie Woodley late Clegg formerly Childs"

now my grandmothers maiden name was Woodley, but I'm not sure what is meant by "late" and "formerly" for her mother?

Can anyone please explain these terms?,

More than likely she was married twice.

If it's the right people Annie CHILDS married Eli CLEGG, Jun qtr 1876, Alverstoke. Eli CLEGG has died and then Annie CLEGG has married Henry WOODLEY, Dec qtr 1881, Alverstoke.

There is an Eli CLEGG in Aldershot in 1871, a soldier aged 22, from Halifax, which could be him.
