Birth Phythian 1868 Mold
« on: Monday 23 March 09 17:09 GMT (UK) »
I cannot find the registration of Aaron Phythian born Mold 1868 on the usual sites.  His mother was Sarah Phythian, father unknown.  I have no idea why Sarah was in Mold as her family lived in Lancs.
Can anyone help please

Are they consistent?

Thankyou all very much indeed for your replies.  I found this birth date and place on all the census from 1871 when he was living in Haydock Lancs.  I had followed the Aaron Phythian born 1871 in Liverpool until I had his first marriage certificate and realized I had the wrong Aaron.  I have not heard of Mistrans.  Can you explain please.  I'll keep the Aaron in Great Boughton in mind but in 1871 he lived with his mother and the census says Mold.

Mis tran = mistranscription of the name into the records - the Aaron in Great Boughton  sounds exactly like this, a virtually phonetic rendition of the spelling.

I am just in the middle of replying- thanks for the support LKL - I do think it is him!

Mistranscriptions often occur and I would think the 'Fithean' one I referred to is a mistranscription.
I'm not sure if there is a particular place you can refer to though to check them, sorry.
Gt Boughton did cover part of Flintshire and if I was a betting person, I would wager that Aaron Fithean is yours - I think it is worth sending for the certificate anyway.
Sarah may have been in service in the area.

I have looked at census and can find no 'Fithean' etc so this birth entry seems to be a one -off for the name - a mistranscription according to sound.

This explains re Gt Boughton/Flintshire.

just to put the record staright for 1871 - Sarah and Aaron were in Lancs, Parr with his grandad James Phythian.

1871 - RG10/3866; Folio: 71; Page: 55 - Parr, in the Prescot / St Helens District.

Aarons PoB is certainly shown as Mould, Flints.
