Thanks for your interest Pricey .As far as I am aware the squadron stayed in France and Germany until it was disbanded soon after War ended. Your Uncle was probably posted to another Sqdn that served in Egypt. Rog

I have his service record although i don`t fully understand it he appears to have been in the " 5th Flight School " when he was "accidentally killed" on 3/3 1919 in Egypt. He appeared to have been promoted to Flight 2nd Lieutenant ?? if that is correct.

Are you sure this is your GG uncle?Does it state on his record he served with 70 sqdn. I ask because the Mr Heron on the photo is a Captain already which is higher than a 2nd Lieuy.
It sounds as if your chap was a flying instructor and his pupil crashed then the death would probably been recorded as accidental. Also the boar hunt spring date and his date of death are a bit close.

I dont think this is my man due to rank and fact my man died 3/3/19....but great photo and really interesting.....with regards to his death as a 2nd Lieuy would he already be a pilot so would likely have died whilst instructing??? A confused story in my family goes along the line he died whilst " showing off" in his plane!!!!
 Thanks
