Ann FRANKLIN nee HOOLAGHAN death
« on: Saturday 28 March 09 06:48 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for a date and place, in which my my GG Grandmother died. Her name is Ann FRANKLIN nee HOOLAGHAN [sic]. According to her marriage cert she was born 1825 +/- in Tullamore, Kings County, Ireland. The cert states she was resident from 'Old Bank' near Morpeth NSW.

She married Benjamin 5 Aug 1856 Roman Catholic Church, East Maitland, NSW.
Benjamin died 7 Aug 1872, 'Lennoxton', Vacy, NSW and is  buried at the Summer Hill (Vacy NSW) Cemetery, NSW.

I have checked the NSW BDM records for her death as well as having had a transcript agent do likewise. I have even thought she might have remarried but again I don't seem to be able to find a trace of her.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated!

Gordon

On the NSW pioneers CD,  there is a death for an Ann Franklin,  not a lot of info though .  You dont give her parents names,  so i dpnt know if you have ruled this one out yet ?

Ann Franklin died 1874 in Sydney ,  parents Benjamin and Elizabeth ,  reg no. 1794.

Thanks Daizi,
Unfortunately, this is not the right Ann FRANKLIN.
And, I don't have her parents names as they don't appear on her Marriage Cert - bummer.

I obtained her death cert only to find that this Ann was never married. This Ann died at Milsons Point NSW (Sydney)

Another possibility is this death:(but I assume you have already ruled it out)

FRANKLIN   ANN   AGE 30    rego V1839800 23A/1839. No parents or district given. Although it would seem that she is too young to be the lady you are seeking, ages have been known to be very flexible!!!

Do you know where their son John is buried? Maybe she is with him. He was 15 at the time of his father's death. Could they have moved interstate, or back to Ireland?

I can't see Benjamin, in the NSW BDM index.

You  could  trying contacting  the  Church  if it is still  there  :o

The  original marriage certificate  may  be still  held  by  the church  and  it could  reveal  her parents names.  I found  this out from my  own  experience with my  ggp the marriage certificate I  received  had no  parents names on it  but  when I rang  the church,  they  looked up  the records  and were able  to give me  further details.

Thank you Jenn,

From what I've been informed the records at the church are closed. But I will try your suggestion - ya never know.

I have only recently been told about RootsChat and so I thought I might get some ideas from this forum.
