James Binch
« on: Saturday 28 March 09 12:47 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone has any information on James Binch. There is a marriage recorded at All Saints Hereford , 24 May 1740.
to Susana Morris.

I am actually looking for a marriage of James Binch to Susannh Lassell, about this time

He may have been in the Queen's Own Dragoons, and I have not come across any other James Binch

Did the Queens Own Dragoons serve in Hereford around this time?

I would be really pleased if someone could give me a lead on this.

Hi Barnowl,

Have you tried posting your query about the Dragoons on the armed forces board?  I'm sure someone there would be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi Spidermonkey

Thanks for your suggestion.

At the time of his marriage, according to the 'Family Bible' he was Major James Binch. I have been in touch with the regiment museum in Warwick because a PRO Kew document shows a Thomas Binch of Mansfield asking for the release of his son James from the Queens Own Dragoons. Unfortunately they were not able to give me any helpful information.

Your suggestion is a good one, but I am not sure which site you have in mind.

Many thanks

Barnowl

Hi Barnowl,

The armed forces board I refered to is part of Rootschat.  If you go to the Rootschat home page, you will find a list of all the different boards.  Towards the end of the list is a section headed something like Occupational Interests and the first board in that section is the Armed Forces board.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

I`m also researching James Binch of Liverpool from a clockmaking aspect.

His first trading address in 1774 was Plumbe St and latterly Lombard St in 1790 prior to his death in 1791.

The old clock museum in Prescot had photographs of an interesting clock he made. His wife Susannah was also a clockmaker.

Regards,

Binchly
