I'm glad I managed to work that much out correctly. My head is spinning from rereading those old threads, I got lost somewhere around the Penmans I think. I don't think anyone will object to a new thread on this - since it does turn out to be a different family!

It might be a good idea to lay out clearly what you have now verified as being "your" James and Euphemia's family, maybe starting with the 1920 death and working backwards through census records and then it will be easier to see where there are gaps that might be filled in.

Looking at the IGI I can see a submitted entry for Alexander in Aberdour March 1846, and another for James, in Dumfermline October 1847. In both cases parents James Beveridge and Euphemia Hynd.

There is an extracted birth entry 10th October 1847 Dumfermline for James. Is he yours?

The Alexander born 1857 Dalgety I presume will belong to the Other James and Euphemia.

There is no extracted record showing on the IGI for Your Alexander. Did you get his birth details from SP or are you relying on the submitted entry?

Have you viewed the census records for 1851 on SP? There are 7 hits for James Beveridge with second person Euphemia. I am aware that some Fife census records are not in the records so your family might not be there.

hi kristy

my james and his euphemia are on the 1851 census with their two sons who

were born in scotland alexander born march 16-1846 and james born in 1850.

they are on the us census for 1860. with their daughter agnes who was born

in the us.  i guess it is possible that this james is married to a euphemia hynd

as i have a few in my file born in the right time frame.  i have been unable to

find where they are buried or i would just go to the cemeteryand see if it is in

the records .  once again i am stuck on this couple.  i am trying to find out if it

really is euphemia hynd daughter of james hynd and elizabeth muir but i dont

know where else to look.  alexanders birth date came from his american relis.
