I do have access to the census so will be able to look at those you have sent. There seemed to be quite a number of John Hickman Turners and perhaps I was over optimistic in thinking that they would still be in Stourbride for census info

There seems to be a lead and then another question comes with it. I have a family called Marsh and seldom do they show up with the correct spelling of the name

There seems to have been only one birth registration for a John Hickman Turner, as found in Stourbridge, and only one marriage for a John Hickman Turner - in Barrow in Furness in 1892.

The Sarah J and Samuel Turner from Sedgley do seem to have had a son John - but he was born c. 1858

Always willing to try and help - but I think in this instance we all think you need to get one or other of the certificates - birth or marriage - and see what his father's name was

Come back and tell us when you have that - and we'll have another look for you

You are right about the certificates. I was doing my dad's family and one of his sisters married into the Turner family in Barrow in Furness and I thought I might be able to move back ward in that family to give info to my cousins. I think , as they have expressed the interest in their family, I had better ask them if they want to buy any certificates

For what it's worth - if you are going to buy a certificate - make it the birth cert as it will give mothers name and maiden name which helps to get back further
