Armstrongs of Tinwald

Hello All,
Am trying to find the father of John Armstrong born  about 1801 in Tinwald, who later wed Agnes Grindle. In 1841 he was in Roughill.
Does anyone have have this John's father's info?
A bit of a long shot, but thanks in advance!

Was he the one living in Roughhill, Dunscore on the 1851:

Armstrong
John, 51, carter and farmer of 8 acres, b. Tinwald
Agnes, 40, b. Tinwald
Henry, 21, Rail labourer, b. Dunscore
John, 11, scholar, b. Dunscore
Francis, 4, b. Dunscore

If he was alive in 1851, he might well have died after 1855 and you could get his death cert which would give his parents' names.

SP has the death of a John Armstrong in 1888, Dunscore. He was 89.

This looks like him so you could check the death cert.
