Willie Hawkins - Reputed Spy???

Hi all,

Ive just come across a bit of information about a relative of mine who apparently went to live in South Africa. How do i find out about looking for him on a passenger list? I am a newby when it comes to emigration and do not know where to start. I have checked on findmypast.com but he doesn't come up on there.

The relative in question was a reputed spy and was apparently murdered, his name was Willie Hawkins, and he worked for the Jerusalem Electric Company in 1948. He had a sister, Ruth, who i know died about 1965 in Rhodesia, how on earth do i start researching these kind of things out. I remember a relative saying that when Willie was killed it was in a British newspaper but she couldn't remember which one.

I hope someone out there can help point me in the right direction, any help will be gratefully received as i haven't a clue where to start looking for these things.
