Right Fishweb here we go.

1871

James Groves  23  Platelayer  b. Manchester
Emma      "       21                    b.Loose/leese/lorse, Cheshire
Annie       "        2                     b. Plumbly,
Living Silk Mill St, Knutsford inferior, Cheshire

John  Groves  68 Farmer of 16 Acres  b. Toft Cheshire
Elizabeth  "    51                                 b. Uxley
William      "    21 Farm lab                  b. Plumbley
Jane          "    19 (Dau in Law)           b. Over tabley ??
Martha      "     18                               b. Plumley
Henry        "     13                               b. Plumley
Infant        "    1 day  (Dau)                b. Plumley

Martha and Henry are listed as dau and son and so is the infant but I would presume that the infant belongs to the newly weds, William and Jane.

They were living Whitehouse farm , Bexton, St John Toft, cheshire

John Groves 17  b. Plumbley was a servant for the Barber family in Plumley.

Hope that all fits with your Groves.

All the best Angela.

Hi Angela,
I checked on Genuki for Cheshire

"Leese was a township in Goostrey chapelry of Sandbach Parish, Northwich Hundred (SJ 7368), which in 1936 was divided between Byley, Cranage and Lach Dennis civil parishes. "

Thanks again for your help
