There is a building known as" George Stephensons Cottage "where he was born and its still standing.   It at West Moor between Low Gosforth and Earsdon on the back road to Monkseaton.   The cottage its self is close to Killingworth.

so does that mean the history books are all wrong? and George Stephens cottage at Wylam  where he is supposed to have been born  is just a load of porkies Lol
the national trust will need to get the facts right now and take those signs down out side the cottage at Wylam.
Forster, Hall, Yielder ,Robson, Corbridge and st John lee/ parishes.  also researching Harmison/Harmieson. have lots of info on above

I know about the Cottage at Wylam and the Puffin Billy and the Wylam Dilly  the two engines before the Rocket desgigned by George.   But the Cootage is still at West Moor  maybe Im mistaken about it being the birth place
