Lookup 1841 census - Alexander Watson
« on: Sunday 05 April 09 11:56 BST (UK) »
Please could someone look in the 1841 census for me. I am looking for Alexander Watson, by 1800, Llanbryd, Urquhart and his wife Margaret, by 1819, Inverness. They married in 1837 in Elgin.

I can find them on the 51, 61 and 71 census but nowhere in 1841.

Many thanks.
Joy

Hi Joy

Looking at the 1851, see their eldest there, son John was born in Inverness abt 1841.
IGI confirms per extracted record:  born Sep 1841 Inverness; and also shows they had a daughter Isabella born 1838 in Inverness who must have died (probably before 1841?)  as they named a subsequent daughter born 1848 Elgin also "Isabella".

Also note on the IGI (extracted records) marriage (or Banns?)  of Alexr. WATSON and Margt.MacBEAN 4 Dec 1837 Inverness.

FreeCen has a likely looking household:

http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
1841: Lochgorm - Inverness - parish 98, ED 7, Folio 7, pg 13
Alexr WATSON 37, Road Contractor
William WATSON 35, Mason
Isabella WATSON 27,
Margt McBAIN 26,
ALL enumerated as born outside of Inversess-shire

2 brothers and 2 wives, maybe?

Cheers

Oh fantastic Ambly!

I had looked at Inverness and didn't find them but I'm sure it's them, although Margaret was born in Inverness as I've got her birth entry.

Thanks a lot. I know it doesn't give a lot of info but it was irritating me!

Thanks again.
