John PENFOLD b1879

I'm looking for this family on 1901 census and before 

John Penfold b 1879  in Newton Abbott married an Ellen and had 4 children Mark b 1895, Eliza b 1898, John b 1902, Vashti b 1908. The 1911 census said they had been married 16 years, making them both 15 when they married.

Vashti married Harry Manley in 1928,  the marriage registered in Honiton.

I can not find the right John on any census.  Does anyone know who he is??

 Hi Jas sounds like John Penfold who married Ellen small son of thomas and Sophia Penfold nee Orchard. dont know who Ellens parents are  they had 10 children i think , but cant find the notes for a min, will look them out 2moro for you hope that helps at bit Matilda  ;)

i think ellens perants were james small born 1843/45 and ellen small.james had a brother william and james and ellen small had 9 children as far as i know.ellen was also born 1879.i can tell you more if it would be helpful to either of you?let me know cathayb

I wonder if Devonblue has any birth certs .... that would help a lot!

Trying to find Thomas and Sophia ith their kids ...to see if thjeir John was born in Devon...

Hi,

The only birth cert I have is for Joyce b 1936 dau of Vashti Penfold and Harry Manley.

I will have a look at the Small connections as the Manleys married Smalls before and they seemed to keep marrying into the same families.

Can't see them in 1901  :-\

Thomas and Soffia Penfold are on Camp Downs, St Austell in 1881 with all their children including my William and John. No POB given.

RG12/1822 fol 114 pg 14

There is this Marriage
Mark Penfold = Alice Holland
Mar q 1919 
St Thomas  Devon
Vol 5b pg 128
