Does anyone have family history on Menzies Ramsay born 19/10/1771. Married Jean Stevenson Aug 31 1804.  Looking for history on one of their children Susan who married John Russell. These are my Great Great Grandparents. ???

Hi a.j.r.
welcome to rootschat.
The more info you give the easier the look up.
I am totally working in the dark here so apologies if I am way off the mark.
I had a look at the IGI records.
www.familysearch.org
I found a marriage for Menzies Ramsey to Jean Stevenson.
10th March 1803 Dalkieth,Midlothian,Scotland.
Found some children.
James 1805.
Jean Sharp. 1807.
Helen. 1809.
Menzies 1811.
all Dalkeith, Midlothian.
No birth for Susan as yet.
Though a marriage to John Russell on the 19th of June 1845.
St .Cuthberts,Edinburgh,Midlothian.
You have to take these records with a large pinch of salt!
If these are your rellies then the next step I would take is checking out the opr,s( old perocial records) on the paid site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
On Susan,s marriage cert it should give you her birth date.
nothing coming up for her on the IGI.
You could post this on the midlothian page if this is the right track.
regards,Billy.

Billy,
Thank you very much.  I did try to answer earilier but the line failed so I will try again.
I have gone down all the tracks you have suggested and have found the same as you.  Is there another avenue to find a marriage cert besides the banns?  In the 1851 census I found John & Susan with 6mth old Jane Agnes which would make her 12 months older than on her Baptism cert. the census also showed Susan as being blind or deaf.  There is also a note beside the entry of Jane which we cannot decifer.
John, Susan and Jane left Scotland around 1854 for Australia.  We have Susans death cert. John remarried and on that cert. it shows he and Susan had 6 children - Jane Agnes only one to survive.
Jane went on to have 9 children the second youngest is my grandmother.  Sadly though Susan died at 39 when her youngest child was 3 weeks old. We are having trouble trying to establish wheather Susan had a disability or not.  she lived to be 70.
We understand that some of the records can be a bit iffy.  You should try some of the convict records over here.  It was the way to wipe away the sins of the past.  They could cover up all sort of interesting things from the old country.
Thank you again.
