Hi

had a closer look at the photo but not much more help.
Just above the sergeants breast pocket seems to be a ribbon, not present on the others. Above sergeants stripes on both sleeves are a fusilier typ badge for definate.

I am still waiting confirmation that is is my great uncle John Hamilton, although he is identical to a  confirmed photo him. It could have been one of his two brothers who were in Scotland at the time of the Great War.

So its a Hamilton Royal Engineers?.......ONLY 337 MICs to that Surname and Regiment!   ::)

contact from my 2nd cousin in USA, it seems likely now that the person (Sergeant) in the photo is NOT my great uncle John B Hamilton, however, they have some connection to our family ie another relative or friend.

Still would be interested in the regiment, uniform era etc though.
