Looking for Gibbs & Conner families

Can anybody help me?  I am looking for information regarding William J and Ellen Mary Gibbs who left the Port of London on 11 August 1920 on Mamari bound for Auckland/Port Chalmers, together with their nephews and niece - John, Florence & George Conner.

Also Luis Bernard & Rosetta Conner together with daughter Rosetta who left Southampton, England, on 30 January 1925 on Arawa bound for Wellington.

Hi Althea

Thanks for the information you have supplied, have been busy looking up your suggestions, looking good!!  I also found a George Leslie Connor at Waitakere, possibly one of the nephews of William & Ellen Gibbs.  I will have to check the second Christian name for George but it looks promising.  I see that New Zealand has BMD's on line now but as I want to go forward, it's not much help to me - I presume I have read the rules correctly?  Obviously I wish to look for marriages and any children, is there any way I can do this?

Once you have the death dates
asking for a newspaper search of dates around that may give family details, or this can be done via Auckland libraries research dept.
Asking the cemetery office via email about burial records may also give you other family details re purchasers etc.

If you can find any middle names that would be good, there are some indexes put out by NZSG but info can't be pasted on forum

Check at archives if there is a will for the GIBBS and that may have some info, you can ask for a lookup or purchase

Hi Althea

Just to thank you for helping me get started on my New Zealand ancestors.  I have several directions I can now follow, perhaps I should come over for a working holiday!!  Went over in 2006 but didn't realise I had relations in NZ then!!
