Sarah Brown    (mother)
and this one
James Callander Barbour born 6/6/1874 Greenock
William Barbour (father)
Jessie Callander (mother)
I dont know which one diedraebarb has already followed
there are another few born 1860's but they may be a bit early

Diedraebarb, that surely has got you off to a good start.  Wait until someone helps you with your passenger shipping lists and your thread will fly........................... 8)   ???

Perhaps someone will help you find the son now?  James Barbour's son, b. Scotland, 1908?

cheers

Hi There

I would like to thank all of you for all the help you have given me. My mind is going round and round with excitement.   ;D

I have followed up the lead with regards to James Barbour and Sarah Brown, Their son James Barbour marries a Jean Wood Johnston in 1900 and they have a daughter Margaret in the same year.

I will definetly follow up all the other that you have kindly listed.

A big thank you for the marriage passage that was found.   I have however one question on the original birth certificate of James Barbour born 1908 it said that James and Jessie got married in 1907, why did they sometimes get the years wrong?  :)

Once again thank you to all.

Regards

Diedrae

did James and Jessie have other children
just wondering if they may have followed the traditional naming pattern
if there were more children you may be able to narrow it down a bit

Hi Elaine

They did have 2 other boys named George and Robert but both of them were born in South Africa.

I know that Robert did not have any children and George had 2.  They were named George and Robert.
James was the oldest, and he  was born in Wishaw, Lanarkshire.  He had 2 children a daughter and a son.  His son is my father in law.  I have asked my Father in law and his cousins if they have any idea when their grandfather James was born and none of them seem to know.

Cheers

Diedrae

Hi diedrae
Naming Pattern
James probably called after his father and paternal grandfather
George                        after his maternal grandfather
Robert possibly called after a paternal uncle
I dont think Jessie is the one born 1862
as that would have made her 44
and although not impossible I think it may be  a bit late for a first marriage
and a bit late for starting a family
will see if I find any Robert Barbour's connected to James
