Do You Recognise This Building?
« on: Tuesday 14 April 09 17:01 BST (UK) »
I have absolutely no clues on this one.

There is some writing on the back - "Dear John, This is a view of the home taken in a plane."
Presumably "John" is my uncle.

Um in case the pic isn't working here's the link http://www.kia-glitz.com/misc/rchomeview.png

The link works ok for me.  Interesting building, but no idea where it is unfortunately.

Let's see if RC will upload it this time (couldn't get it to attach before, so I've now compressed it somewhat).

I'm afraid I don't recognise it, but it reminds me of the hospitals built in the early 1900s specifically for TB patients. The only known cure was fresh air, so these hospitals were built southfacing with all the rooms having big windows or patio type doors that would let fresh air in.

Rootschatters are usually great on quests such as this one. Where are the usual suspects?

I thought of a sanitorium too. Your "Uncle" John mentions a home. Is it an orphanage somewhere?

Has anyone else any ideas.

Can you give us a few more clues as to where "John" lived please?

Hi,

I am sorry, I don't think I am any help but it reminded me a little of the children's convalescent home in West Kirby, Wirral.  I have googled it and it is not that one but could it be another one?

Just a thought, I wish I could help more.

K.

Hi,

As this was taken from a plane, perhaps it is near an airport? And also, if there are chatters who know car models and makes and year etc, perhaps someone could get to date the photo? Perhaps there are chatters who are professional pilots or cabin crew and would be able to help too.

Cheers,
