James Gowans again -

Seem to be stuck with James Gowans and Isabella Sorlie/Sorley/Soreley.  Married in 1790 in Perthshire.  Isabella from Methven.
Have looked at Church Records for both places and it seems that these two came from elswhere.
Isabella's father is named Peter Soreley, day labourer on the Marriage.
Found a James Gowans in Dunning how do I connect these two James Gowans.
Appears that both James & Isabella died pre 1841.
Is there any other records available to find this family prior to 1841.

James Gowans is my 3xgreat grandfather. Possibly have as much info as you do on him. His son John, b1793, is my line - and have more info starting with his marriage to Ann Morris. Their 3rd born, Thomas Forrester Gowans is my great grandfather. Thomas came to Australia in 1855 and settled in Tasmania, where he married Agnes McLean. Do you require any info on my line or have you already researched this side of the Gowans family?

Many thanks for info. I knew that James Gowans had a son, James, - but nothing further known about him until I received your message. My research was directed mainly towards my gggreat grandfather John, b1793. I found Scotlandspeople a useful site plus searching on the internet and this is how I came across Rootschat yesterday by using the name Gowans. So glad I did!
