Would it be possible for someone in Winnipeg to do a look-up for me, please?
I would like proof that this person was the brother of my husband's g-g-grandfather (I can't afford to purchase his death record). I do have anecdotal evidence of the relationship but no proof at present.
From the Manitoba Vital Statistics website:
Frederick Henry Trotter aged 69
Died 23 December 1920 in Winnipeg
Based on the 1901 census, this might be his second marriage:
9 February 1894, Turtle Mtn, Manitoba
Frederick H. Trotter & Sarah Lyndoll
I have him in the 1901, 1906 and 1911 census.
I have his daughter, Henrietta's, marriage record to John William Chase. (My husband's grandmother's name was Henrietta Trotter and I bought it just in case she had another marriage we didn't know about. It turns out it was the daughter of Frederick Henry Trotter and probably her cousin.)
Based on the Manitoba Vital Statistics website and the 1911 census, his daughter Margaret married John Blanthorn Giles.
I would be most interested in seeing the obit or death record (if available for free at the library in Winnipeg) for Frederick Henry Trotter if any kind Rootschatter is willing and able to look either one up for me.
I believe he was likely the brother of Alex Trotter, who, with his cousin Beecham Trotter, ran a successful horse trading business in Brandon, Manitoba. Alex Trotter was my husband's g-g-grandfather.
If they were brothers, they were both born in Ontario and their parents were Robert Trotter and Margaret Jane Franklin. Based on the 1861 & 1871 census, Alex did have a brother named Frederick of the same age.
Thank you!
Josephine
