Alfred Hicks SHEPHERD
« on: Friday 17 April 09 21:27 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the birth of my grandad who was born 1870 at East Hanney, the GRO have no index for him, but he was the youngest of the children of William Shepherd and Jane Hicks.

Sorry, I know you said the GRO don't have him but did you definitely rule this one out?

Alfred Sheppard
Jun 1870
Wantage 2c 305

Just asking because I can't see any other Alfred Shep*rd on the 1871 census whose birth registration this could be.

I thught that too, tati

Shepherd is a difficult name t research as the spelling varies so much.

Maybe "Hicks" was added at the christening snd not at the registration

Also Alfred was not the youngest child -there was William, george and mary who were younger than him
