Hi,
For Australian War Service records this is the site. Just log in as a guest
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/recordsearch/index.aspx

I have had a search and there appears to be no Martiner........you might want to try combinations of various spellings.  :D :D

Could he possibly have moved to England and enlisted there?

Cheers
Susie

I couldn't find Robert but I did find his brother Harold MARTINA who enlisted in South Africa - we didn't even know he'd been to S Africa!!!

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am wondering if you know for sure that he enlisted?

I don't know anything for sure - I get all the stories from my husband's mother.  She said her uncle Bruno i.e. Robert MARTINER/MARTINA never worked because he was shell shocked from the war! ::)  His sister was named Elizabeth Jane and they called her Daphne!! ::) ::)
