David Spence

David Spence born c1803 married Elizabeth? had possibly Alexander,Frances, Mary and Jane. I don't know where he came from but he was in Braehead Raphoe,1838, birth of Mary and Milltown Raphoe 1840, birth of Jane. I would like some info. as to where he came and how many children he had. I have nothing before that other his son Alexander married in 1849

Hi, I am descended from the Spences of Braehead, Raphoe. My great-great grandparents were William Spence and Margaret McElhinney who were married in Newtoncunningham in 1906.

I must have a look and see if there is a connection to my Spence. Do you have a DNA test on any of the sites? I have mine on a few.

There is a marriage for William Spence and Margaret McElhinney 9th May 1861. Is that your ancestors? If so, his father was Alexander Spence.

No, I haven’t gone down the DNA road yet. The earliest Spence ancestor I have found is Alexander Spence who died August 19 1837, aged 80 years, at  Breahead (sic) Taughboyne, Co. Donegal. I have a David Spence, born June 4 1841 at Taughboyne, Co. Donegal. My great-grandfather John Spence emigrated to Scotland. One of his brothers Robert (Bob) emigrated to Indianapolis, USA.

There is an Alexander Spence married to Isabella Elliott. Looks like the marriage was before 1831. The children are
Margaret 1831
Martha 1833
Mary. 1835
Alexander 1836
William 1839
David 1841
David 1844
Andrew 1846
I expect that is not the Alexander that died in 1835.
