Hello  there

I had a look at  this Particular Census page  and  noted  that it could be  that  he was 7  and  not 17.

Also  noted  that  Ann Elizabeth Billiatt was also born  in South Australia, wondering if  there is in  tie in  there.

Ann Elizabeth KING married William BILLIATT in South Australia,

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your input.

I am fairly up-to-date with the KING family of South Australia, from Lincolnshire. With a major lack of baptism records, it has been pieced together (not just by me) from Census returns. Links like Aunts, sister in-law etc in the 'Relationship to Head' column.

Normally I would not concern myself greatly with a visitor. But being from South Australia is something that I rarely see in the Census Returns pre 1900.

Initial, none of the parents names, seem related. He may just be a visitor, attracted to the reputation of John William BILLIATT, explorer.

But I will keep working on it.

Thank you again,

regards
Grantley

I  did note as  you  probably have also  that on a previous Census return  the head of  the  household is an Australian Wine Merchant.

I  did also  think  perhaps  his  name  might also be MULLER?  lack of dots on  the  i which  the  person  doing the returns seems  to have done on  other i's

Thank you Jenn.

If you are talking about the 1871 Census, I can only see William BILLIATT as a 28 year old "Australian Merchant" with no "Wine" visable. He was at 4 Arthur Terrace, Hanover Street North Side, Surrey.

Is that the one you are referring to?

For some unexplained reason, John William BILLIATT was recorded as William & his wife Ann Elizabeth was recorded as Agnes? These things are sent to test us. Everyone else in the household was recorded correctly for that census.

Regards
Grantley

Yes  thats  the  one  and you are quite correct Australian Merchant not Australian Wine Merchant ,  heaven  only  knows why  I  put  that!!

Agnes,  hey, must have been  her Australia accent ;)
