Hi Ros & Tom

Just a note to say descendants of the Gaunts are possibly still in Australia.  One of Clive Herbert's sons serviced in WW2.  He is mentioned on the national archives site. His birth place was Rangoon Burmah.  If you search using "Clive Gaunt", you'll bring up his name.

Cheers
Genni

Hi Genni and Tom,

Thanks for your information.

I belive William Henry Gaunt's grandparents were Josiah and Mary Gaunt (possibly Fowler).   The Gaunts lived at Horton Hall, Horton, Sts. in the early 1800s.

Hi Ros

If you type in 'Horton, Staffordshire' in your search engine, it comes up with inf. on Horton Hall and also some MI's. If you add 'Gaunt' it comes up with inf. on the Gaunts at Horton Hall.

Regards

Tom Gaunt

Hi

I am also related to this family and am just putting the family tree onto Family Tree Maker. The tree goes back to 1620 with a little gap before rejoining at 1643. Not sure how I can share this with you.
Anything in particular you would like to know?

Cheers
Mary Jane (nee Gaunt) originally from Midlands UK now NZ

Hi Mary Jane,

I am a direct descendant of William Henry through Ernest and have been putting together a family tree on MyHeritage.com, now with 2500 people in it. I would love to connect with you to see if / where we all may be related. Please let me know if you're interested in pursuing this.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike
Looks like the tie in is my 7th great grandfather! John Guant of Rowley Regis, Malster. Baptised at Rowley Regis 19 Dec 1641, buried at Rowley Regis 5 June 1718 aged 77. His wife was Elizabeth, buried at Rowley Regis 29 Oct 171. You may already have this information.  Our part of the family are on the more junior side of the tree (right side).
I'm happy to give further information if you would like it.  I am currently reading a biography of Mary Gaunt, Ernest's sister and have already read her books "Alone in West Africa" and "A woman in China" , of which I have a copy. It was certainly an interesting family.
