SA help with HANKS please

Wondered if anyone could help with some info in South Australia.

A Harry (Harold?) HANKS  and Agnes BROWN  were supposedly married in Australia.   They came here to follow her eldest son WILLIAM STANTON.

Agnes BROWN had William in England in around 1866 ... at the time she was married to John STANTON....  when she was pregnant with her 2nd child she escaped from Stanton's drunkeness and went to South Africa.  She met Harry Hanks on the ship and they lived together in South Africa with William and her 2nd son to Stanton  ..Bertie who later died there.    Together they had three girls in South Africa before following WILLIAM to Australia.

His descendants are in South Australia.  It is believed William married a Rachael (maybe known as rae) and they had one son Harry,  he went on to marry an Ida.

That looks about as clear as mud lol  but hope someone can throw some light onto them

I think maybe someone has read SA marriage as South Australia and may in fact be South Africa as the three girls born over there all carried his name.  THATS IF they ever bothered getting married at all lol.....  shhhhhhhh

Someone also seemd to think WILLIAM STANTON changed his name to HANKS ....  is there somewhere I can find that out?

Website is on a go slow at the moment.

Well according to Wm's marriage record he did change his name...but perhaps just 'adopted' the name of his mother's partner/2nd husband.

This was actually William's FATHER Harry Hanks,  after his wife died he remarried at the ripe old age of about 71 lol.   That line on the family tree has more husbands wives and alternates than you can imagine.  AT least he bothered to marry this one....
