if Sylvia Mabel Sabine was his wife at the time of making the will, it's a bit unususal i'd think to call her his " widow"?

Also I think the Brisbane City Council has a website that has Brisbane cemeteries on it and there lists are searchable... maybe if this is wrong someone will correct me please.

You're right Charlotte:

http://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/BCC:BASE:775298943:pc=PC_899 but the Sabines aren't there.  :-\

But these are only the council cemeteries - there are others, but I don't know if they're searchable online. Maybe someone knows of other cemeteries?

I think what allaust is saying is that when Herbert's estate was being divided up after his death, some of it went to his widow.

haha, it's a mystery. we only realised she existed a few months back, but no one has heard of her.
Hence the stepmother reference.
Distribution of Herberts estate in 1963
gives 1/3 to widow sylvia etc (MH82/63-m.13) whatever that means. then says transferred to 1a acc.

Anyone translate that?
There are 3 references to widow.

Hi Again,
Perhaps this birth in Qld is worth posting.

1896/C7525 Coley, Sylvia Mabel. father Philemon Lewis. mother Lucy Harley.

She is the only woman with those given names [ in that order] born in Qld in a workable time frame.

May also be quite irrelevant ;D

ADDING:
This woman married

1916/C456 Coley, Sylvia Mabel to Walker William.

Do  you  know  where Herbert L  Sabine is  buried,  perhaps if Sylvia is also buried with  him  her death date  may  be  of some help as well.

Hi

If you have any info on Herbert's death it may help locate Sylvia Mabel.

Cheers

I  think  the  refence  to  his widow  Sylvia in  his  will is  just  that  she became his widow upon his death.

It  would  be  interesting  to  read what was actually  written  in  his will

Sylvia,  the  distribution  from  his  will you are quoting is that from  the actual will  or the probate of  that will,

do you  have a date of  death  for Hertbert?  you  could  look in the  newspapers for a funeral notice  that might reveal more about  her.
