Hi again everyone,

I put a search into google for "bronzing plaster" and found that there was a popular art of bronzing plaster figures - so I think that this is correct.

"possibly the first sculptor to popularise the art of ‘bronzing’ plaster figures in an attempt"

Thanks,

Darin.

Actually I agree after looking at other instances of the letters that it is more likely to be "bronzing". You can see other "b"s, "r"s and the "g" at the end doesn't match the other letter, which is a typical old style "z" ;) not meaning to cause offence of course :)

I agree with that. All the other gs are looped. This definitely looks like an old style z.
I'd go with bronzing.

And if you Google "bronzed stucco" or "bronzing stucco" (and click on "Books") you'll see more detailed descriptions of the technique.
