Douglas ROBSON - Sydney 1860

Dear sirs
would you please look for my Relative Douglas Robson who arrived in Sydney from London England in Sept 1860 age 24,
if you would please look up the 1861-1901 Census it would be a big help, to find out more about him, if he married etc?

Unfortunately  Australia  does  not  have census records available as you  would find in  the  UK.  Australia does carry out census of course but  the records were never made public.

Now  can you  please tell us a little more avout your Douglas Robson, where was he born  and  what  were his parents names please

Thanks for your reply.
Douglas Robson was in Newcastle, England in 1835, his parents were John Robson and Eleanor Urwin, he was a Seaman in Merchant Service and disappeared around 1857.
I think he is the Douglas Robson aged 24 that emigrated of the' Cairngorm in Sept 1860 to Sydney.

Dear Allan,
I have just checked the NSW BDM at http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm and Douglas doesn't appear to have married in NSW.

Also checked the Queensland BDM's at https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/MarIndexQry.m and he doesn't appear to have married in Queensland.

Also checked the Tasmanian Archives up to 1899 at http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=8 and he doesn't appear there as a marriage or death either.

Also checked Western Australia at http://www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au/_apps/pioneersindex/default.aspx and he's not there as a marriage either.

The Victorian Records at https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria don't have him marrying either.

The South Australian records aren't online, but fellow Rootschatters have these indexes.

I  cannot locate a death  in NSW for a Douglas Robson  with  the  parents names you have supplied  nor a death with parents unknown.

can I  ask  how you  know he was your relative?   Does  he show on a passenger list?

I have done my family tree, he shows on the passenger list of the Caingorm which arrived in Sydney 12th Sept 1860 he is aged 24, that why i cant understand why he cant be found.
Are there any Douglas Robson's showing up?

Mnnnnnn, it is possible  that  he may not be your Douglas Robson,  there were about 5 deaths in NSW for  Douglas Robson.
