1841 census look up please for Thornton (near Bradford) Completed
« on: Thursday 23 April 09 19:40 BST (UK) »
Hi all: Last week I accidentally deleted a file folder containing census images, IGI downloads, and other research on one whole branch of my family--a great great grandmother. After banging the head on the wall and gnashing the teeth for several days, I'm starting a reconstruction (of the records, not the head or the teeth!  ;)). Today I have only one request.

Edit: wife's name should be Hannah

I'm looking for the family of Joseph Dobson in Thornton (near Bradford) in the 1841 census. Joseph Dobson would have been about 44 years old. Wife was named Elizabeth Hannah, I think, and about the same age. One daughter was named Ann, age given as 15, if I remember correctly. There were several other children (one I hope was named William, which would confirm an IGI search I made today), but my great great grandmother, Susey Dobson,  was enumerated in Halifax in that census.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
John  :o :o :o

Pauline

Hi Pauline, That was Timothy Dobson, the wrong Dobson. My ancestor is definitely Joseph Dobson.

Hi Brer: Much thanks for the look up to you and Beaker  ;) (that is Beaker there, yes?). Joseph Dobson's family is my direct line. John Dobson living next door is Joseph's brother, I believe. And young Tom Dobson may be the son of Joseph, John, or a third brother, Thomas. The presence of son William in Joseph Dobson's household may help confirm the name of wife Hannah Dobson's father.

Regards,
John

Hi John,

Sorry to be late with this.  I have emails still saved that passed between us when you were on your original hunt for Dobsons.  I will re-send them to you asap as they contain a lot of Joseph Dobson info.

We have a family funeral tomorrow (sorry - later today) but after then I will get my head around it.

Maggie  :D  ;)
