Uniform and Medal identification please
« on: Friday 24 April 09 02:32 BST (UK) »
Hi,

This is my great grandfather and his son, I am presuming he served in the army?  Also there appears to be a star shaped medallion attched to the "Fob" chain across the older man's chest.  Could it be a medal?

Any information at all will be appreciated

Thank you

Di

Hello Neil,

I really appreciate your reply - he was based in Hull so spot on!  What do you think to the fob chain thingy - is my imagination turning it in to something it isn't!

Thank you for such a prompt reply.

Regards

Di

Taken circa 1915. And from a Kitchener bn...

Possibly one of the Hull Pals bns...10th, 11th, 12th or 13th...

The old boy's fob is just that, a silver medallion shaped fob...Quite popular at the time...Not a medal or anything else I'm afraid.
They can be found in antique shops across the country ;)

I was of the understanding that the chain was the Albert...A Single Albert for a single chain. or a Double Albert for the double (as we see here) chain...

The dangly bit is the fob...
