Hello,
Would anyone be kind enough to help me find some records relating to warrents, arressts, maintanance orders and imprisonment in Melbourne Victoria? Perhaps even the police Gazetts?
My Great Grandfather Mr Benjamin thomas commited bigamy in 1926 in Adelaide, South Australia. He was arrested and sent to Yalata prison for 6 months hard labour. When he was discharged he moved with his new wife to Melbourne, Victoria. My Great Grandmother moved back to Sydney.
I recently found some records in the National archives of australia to which I have discovered that in 1947 another warrent for his arrest was sent out due to a maintanance order. Any help with finding some records would be much appreciated. - Or any advice on where to find such records?
Below is all the information that I have that will help:
National archives record regarding warrent etc:
http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/imagine.asp?B=7473057&I=1&SE=1Name: Benjamin Thomas Miles
married: Miss Laurel Burrows
commited Bigamy when he also married: Bella Maud Bell.
It seems he lied about his dob to his wife as his correct dob is 26 June 1901, Fishguard, WALES.
There are alot of records about him on the NAA and I have been so lucky to have found them. I look forward to hearing from anyone he may be able to help find some records regarding the arrests warents etc.
Regards,
Sandra
