Salisbury - Wrexham - help needed
« on: Saturday 25 April 09 18:33 BST (UK) »

i am looking for information on my odlest ancestors. i am hoping someone can help me get a little further back.
Joseph Salisbury wasborn in 1829, the son of a Farmer called john Salisbury and his wife mary. (i have been told that she was called Davies before marriage)

i know hardly anything about them apart from roughly in 1840's they were in "Bontuchel ???

i believe they had a rather large family and have onle been able to find out a little of one of his other brothers John, who was born c. 1827 and married an Hannah pierce (?)

I have census info on Joseph, but little else on his parents and siblings.

Can anyone help me with tracking down info, census records, parish records etc???

i will be stuck without it

Many thanks
Betton

This could be them, there many more John and Mary`s but this one seems to be the right place, Llanfwrog is very close to Ruthin,
Only problem Joseph doesn`t seem to be at home. ???

Thanks Wilcoxon

He is however the same age as "Joshua" on the census. (12  - born c. 1829)
No one that i have ever spoken to has found a Joshua just a Joseph.
And no matter what i have tried i can only find history on three of the children:
Joseph  - mine
John - married Hannah Pierce (late Jones)
Mary - John Bowker  ???

can't find anything on the others
and cannot get any further back with john  :-[

i believe he died somewhere in between this census in 41 and the next one... and in 1851 the only children living with Mary are Joseph and John.
So what happened to the others......  not a clue  :(

Thanks for your help
Really appreciated
Betton

This appears to be the same family that Wilcoxon found,
in 1851:
HO107/2504/196/8
Ty Newydd, Bodyngharad Isa
John Salisbury, age 62, Farmer of 30 acres, born Llanbedr
Mary Salisbury, age 60, Farmers Wife, born Llanynys
Josuah Salisbury, age 22, son, born Llanfwrog (mistranscribed as Llandwrog)
Hannah Salisbury, age 14, dau, born Llanfwrog

In 1851 Anne Salisbury, age 19,  born Llanfwrog, is a female servant in Llandegla
 HO107/2504/5/3

There are three Salisbury deaths on freeBMD registered in Ruthin 1841 to 1851.

Good Afternoon
Wilcoxon and Hirieth
Thanks for all the hard work   :)
i believe the above one is the correct
According to my very far awaw related cousin (Who is related to John) . this is the only information this far back we could find too.
The 1841 you have found is a strong possibility, but i guess with finding the same family in 1851, puts a severe amount of doubt in my mind  ???

where do you suggest we go from here?
