Electoral Roll or Sands for H.J. NEW Blue Mountains
« on: Sunday 26 April 09 06:16 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm trying to get information on a Great Uncle of mine who conducted limousine tours around the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains in the mid 1920's to 1930's.

His name was Henry John New (Harry), was wondering if anyone had access to electoral rolls or sands directory around those years, that could assist me to further my enquiries in regard to
his family.

He initially lived in Bankstown area near Sydney, then commenced this business on the Mountains for a number of years, and then returned to Sydney.

There are 2 Harry News appearing in 1930 - One is a groom in Randwick the other a Labourer in Dubbo

NEW Henry John Newbury Waterloo Road Bankstown Carpenter

NEW Florence Kate Home Duties

Kris,

Thanks for this, I do know that he was driving these limos up on the Mountains in the late 1920's, 1930's, but maybe he only went there on the weekends, and was still officially still living at Bankstown.   It would have been a long drive in those days to Blackheath.

You've satisfied my query anyway, thanks for your help.

It is so frustrating, I'm trying to find members of this New family or Chivers that were living there in the 1950's or so, I know some of them, but I just cannot trace the rest of the family.
