Hello there ; My intervention may be of some/little value to you but my surname is Demery and my gg grandfather was born around 1840 and lived in Cork.  From my great grandfather on we have traced the family with accuracy but are curious about the earlier times.   Family lore has us as Huguenots of course but we cannot confirm whether we came from France or elsewhere.  My grandfather was educated in England which might indicate the UK as a starting  point .My gg grandfather was William Demery and his occupation given as miller on his son`s marriage cert.  If you have any link it would be greatly appreciated.   Incidentally a John Demery is mentioned as a agent of the earl of Pembroke when he first came to Ireland
