Craven/Watson - Banchory
« on: Monday 27 April 09 18:02 BST (UK) »
I am wondering if there are any Cravens or Watsons still around the Banchory area.  The Cravens originally moved there from England sometime between 1810 and 1851.  My great-grandfather Andrew Craven married Jane Watson in 1855 - daughter of John and Ann (Barron).  I know that the Watson family owned most of the centre of Banchory at that time.  The Cravens remained in Banchory - going forth and multiplying - for quite some time thereafter.  The phone book now shows only 2 Cravens: one in Elgin and one in Aberdeen.  However, Watson is a fairly common name in the area; they would be very distant branches of my family so I am not too fussed if I don't find them just yet.  Any ideas anyone?
