A constructive idea when errors are found and reported might be to give feedback suggesting that, rather than relying on general notification of errors/typos, they institute a mechanism whereby users can submit corrections for verification a la FreeBMD i.e. by pro forma with fields which must be completed.

I find the FreeBMD system to be excellent - perhaps because they've accepted all bar one of my many many corrections and even that one I could understand though I didn't agree!

And having all the facts to hand (rather than having to investigate from scratch) must make it so much easier for FreeBMD - as it would for the historical NZ BMD site.

Of course it's early days yet so I guess it will take some time for the NZ site to settle down.  But they could still take on board suggestions for the future.

I'm sure all users would like to make this excellent resource even better.

It's faster now so I've checked a few things out (before the family came to Australia ca 1890 or so, my Gran had landed in NZ as a littlie in 1876, some siblings were born there, her father died there, her mother remarried there and then had two more children) and they are all on the site (I'd bought extracts many years back).  I haven't found any errors yet ...

                FOLIO NUMBERS    /    REGISTRATION NUMBERS

                                 and      THE  DISTRICT  KEYS

Every entry appearing in this online version, has been allocated a "new" registration number !

District Keys

If you are needing to determine the district in which a birth or death was registered, a "new registration number" is quite useless !

In order to use the District Keys, the "old" folio number from the relevant microfiche index, will be need to be obtained.
