Hi Haydn

Just looked at a 1918 map of Audenshaw and Dale Street is off Guide Lane (Guide Bridge end of Audenshaw), my ancestors lived on Water St which is the next St down
Sadly a lot of rebuilding has gone on in that area

Holgate, Lancs/Chesh
Etchells, Chesh/Lancs

Hi Mo

Thanks for that. I was re-looking at my old census forms just to make sure I had not made a mistake. Can I be cheeky and ask if Lord street is near to Dale street. If memory serves me right Williams Parents where living on there at one point.

Thanks again everyone for all the help.

Haydn

Hi Mo

Ah brilliant thanks for that. It sounds like you have a very handy map there. Most useful. So I take it that this street may also be classed as Guide lane. Just thinking ahead as it is Williams parents I am going to try to pin down next.

Thanks again

Haydn

Hi Haydn
Both Dale Street and Lord Street were off Guide Lane which was the main road through Audenshaw

Hopefully there should be a map attached

Hi Mo

Thats absolutely fantastic. Thank you very much. I also notice a west street on there. I am sure I have come across that name in the past as well. This will make things so much easier to figure out.

Haydn ;D

Hi Haydn & Mo - great to see the map - Haydn have you spotted the "Hat Manufactory" on there  - looks like the family may have had a very short walk to work if they worked there!

Interesting to see the Sewing Machine works which I remember were there that far back as well (Jones, became Brother).

Ah yes I had not noticed it. Not to sure if William and Mary would have worked in the Hat Manufactory but I am betting that William Parents did. (Another William and Mary). I am sure that is why they would have upped sticks to move from Warwick to come to here.

Thanks for pointing that out.
