Tazzie,
The Victorian prisoners site is fed from the Beds Archives Gaol database, so it is the same information. Interestingly more info on him comes from the A2A dated 1825
"Recognizances: Jn. Stains, Upper Dean, shopkeeper; prosecute Wm. Squirrel, same, labr.; for theft of clasp knives and pocket book or "house wife" of red morocco leather; also to "produce his own wife" to give evidence ".
"Examinations and depositions: Information of Wm. Staines, Upper Dean, shopkeeper. He was woken up by Sam. Farey between 10 and 11 p.m., and found a bay of his shop broken through "the bay is a wall of Stud & mud". Finding two pocket knives missing he got the constable to arrest Wm. Squirrel, aged about fourteen, as he was at play with other boys. The constable searched him and found the two knives, and a "little morocco houswife book", the latter belonging to Staines wife. Information of Wm. Bull Petty constable, Upper Dean. Examination of Wm. Squirrel; Wm. Arnot, Tilbrook and Rich. Merrill, Kimbolton, "two young fellows", gave the articles to him".
