Hi Mike and casalguidi

Thank you for your comments.

Yes it realy does look like a u and this other entry clip confirms it.
The u of uxor is definately the same as the first letter and the r in March (above the entry) is exactly like the second letter.
Unfortunately this second entry is practicaly unreadable for where they are from [something] wood!

Thanks for the link, I will have to study that in more detail later.

Many thanks again

Linda

Hi Roger and Suttonrog

Many thanks for those idea.
Haselldene or Haselldens does look like a good fit although this name doesnt appear in the old tythe maps but there is a Hazelden Farm on the modern maps.

I think the word after wood is possibly Broadweaver but as the previous sample is Husbandman the father must have taken an unusual change in occupation!

Although additional comments in the parish records can be a great advantage in this case its raised more questions.

Thanks again
Linda

Hi Linda,

looking again at that word after wood, I think it might be William Rolfe's occupation, not a place - Broadweaver.

Googling again, I found several references to the occupation of broadweaver, including a journeyman broadweaver, though I can't find the word in a dictionary.

Does that fit your other information?

Roger

Edit: Sorry I missed your mention of broadweaver as a possibility :-[
