Hi Angelfish

I was just going to say that witness would be Jane, now we know she married a Plows in 1881

 ;D

Of course, you're right ;D . Senior moment  ;D

It could still be a T on the marriage register, I've only got the transcript!

Perhaps aberdein already has Jane's birth certificate giving Louisa's maiden name?  If not, getting that might be the next step.

All these possible marriages would need to be checked against the 1851 census to see if the various Louisas had the right age and birthplace, and then to see if they were still single in the 1861 census. You also need to check the same way that Thomas Broom didn't marry the other female listed on the page

To find a missing spouse, Woody, on freebmd you can enter just the year, quarter, district, and volume number, (leaving the page number out as that will be the reason someone's missed off), to find all possibles, and then see if any page numbers haven't been listed,  --  it's probably been transcribed with brackets eg 5[53]1 instead of 551 if the middle 5 was hard to read, and so won't be matched with the others.

If Louisa is Janes Mother and comes from Clyst Honiton (1881) then there is a Marriage of these 2 in Wellington (devon) which covers the Clyst Honiton district.

Woody, I'm a bit puzzled about the above, where did you get the information from about the registration district?

The district for the marriage you gave is Wellington Shropshire - districts covered are listed here
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/wellington1.html

Clyst Honiton would come under St. Thomas district http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/st%20thomas.html

I missed off son Thomas' age in the 1861 census details earlier, he was 6, and he was 15 in 1871 census, so I think the marriage would have been no later than 1855

He was born Topsham, also covered by the St.Thomas district, so the marriage angelfish gave looks promising.

Stockton, Watson, Bage, Nellist N. Yorks
Challnor/Challoner Cheshire/Shropshire. Moore, Mansell: Wellington, Shropshire

Just checked it now, I think he married Mary Ann Cox, not Louisa Luxton, sorry!

There's another in St. Thomas in Dec 1855, just one spouse, so checking now for the missing lady
